Resumen

El propósito de esta investigación fue conocer si las características de las funciones de esposos y padres contribuyen al ajuste psicológico de los hijos. Se buscó indagar si el ejercicio de ciertas prácticas paternas contribuye a la aparición o no de conductas de ajuste. En esta investigación se contó con una muestra de 256 familias conformadas por papá, mamá y un hijo entre 12 y 18 años. Los resultados encontrados muestran que las funciones de esposos y padres tales como la satisfacción marital, la satisfacción paterna, el conflicto marital y el estrés paterno son importantes en la explicación de la variabilidad de las conductas de ajuste psicológico de los hijos. Así mismo, el apoyo dado a los hijos, el monitoreo de sus actividades, el control psicológico y el trato rudo contribuyen a la aparición de conductas de ajuste y desajuste psicológico.
